Agenda Capital
About us
Agenda Capital consists of an active property development business, run alongside asset investments in public and private equity, and fixed income.
Agenda's aim is to seek business opportunities to achieve excellent risk-adjusted returns, whilst running a balanced portfolio which will perform in all economic conditions. Key targets are real return on capital employed through working with high quality people and businesses.
Agenda seeks to utilise the skills and resources of its team and contacts to add value to assets through various methods including: finding new business angles to bring under-utilised properties back into use; development of on-site land; change of use; extension into air space; covenant improvement; increasing space use efficiency; maximisation of marginal value of space; design improvement. The Agenda Group is building its property business through a) direct investment of equity capital, b) working with key strategic partners on joint venture projects, and c) raising new capital to launch property based funds focusing on investment and development.
We have excellent working relationships with the most senior members of a number of large well established firms who we can draw upon to provide the necessary services to enable a highly professional approach to property investment and development – architects, planning consultants, lawyers, tax advisers, build consultants, surveyors etc. These firms have been carefully chosen from those working for the largest and best developers in the property business (e.g. Berkeley).
Jamie founded Agenda Capital following a 20+ year career in the City specialising in fixed income, credit, and distressed investing and trading. He has played an active investment role in syndicated commercial property deals across the UK since the early 90s.
Taking advantage of market opportunity at the time, he built a property development business at Agenda, focusing initially in SW London, and the transition of commercial to residential property.
He also leveraged Agenda's resources in establishing a new business to help friends with early stages companies, and through this established a small venture capital portfolio.
In his 20 year City career (1991-2012), Jamie acted as a Board Director of Nomura Bank International, a UK bank, and was a senior managing director of Nomura International PLC. At Nomura, he managed $5bn in assets, and established and ran a $250mm distressed debt fund. In 2008 after the financial crisis, his team at Nomura took on management of Nomura's bad bank, including a portfolio of distressed US commercial property (in security form) of total value in excess of $2bn. Jamie's team successfully used loss mitigation techniques and value enhancement strategies which later lead to this being Nomura's best performing asset based business.
Jamie holds an Economics degree (BA 1st class hons) from Exeter University.
